Spoken Word Evening 15th July

Come and join us for an evening of Spoken Word.

Saturday 15th July 7.30pm at Sprint Mill

Including the Cumbria launch of the Curlew Calling Anthology – a collection of nature writing and images on the theme of Curlews – one of our most threatened bird species in the U.K.

We have a splendid selection of writers and poets who will be reading for us by the fire in the unique location that is Sprint Mill.

Our host, Karen Lloyd, will be reading from Curlew Calling. She will be joined by guest readers Simon Sylvester,  author of The Visitors, and poet Sarah Hymas, recently shortlisted for the Ivan Juritz prize. We are also delighted to welcome Marian Veevers, author of the recently published Jane and Dorothy: A True Tale of Sense and Sensibility. Also on the bill we’re excited to have with us Barbara Hickson, Kerry Darbishire, Jonathan Humble, Jennifer Copley and Mark Ward to name but a few!

Read more about Curlew Calling here and buy a copy here.

Readers’ books will be for sale on the night.

Our spoken word evenings are very popular and as we are not running so many events this year (just having a bit of a rest) it might be wise to turn up a bit earlier for our 7.30pm start. If you’ve not been before you are in for a treat and if you have then you’ll know what we’re talking about – time to sit back and enjoy a fabulous array of readers in a stunning and unique location!

Sprint Mill events are run on a donations and contributions basis unless otherwise stated.

Some refreshments will be available during the short interval (tea/coffee etc). Feel free to bring your own though.

Any queries please contact Flo using the form below.
